There has been much debate on how design can help to extend the life of a
building. CIRIA has been working with European partners to develop a system
that allows a family to stay in one residence for the duration of their life
by adapting the building to different family situations (end-users). Innovative
and flexible use of space in off-site manufacture can be used to tailor adaptability
of buildings for different end-user scenarios. A highly innovative European
project undertaken by CIRIA has identified that by adopting scenario driven
design concepts, end-user scenarios can influence the flexibility and lifespan
of a building.
We are seeking individuals or organisations that are keen to develop the above
proposal from a conceptual model to a commercial prototype.
